Palliser took possession of their new 117,191 square foot space at Sophia Industrial Park March 1st. Palliser joins neighbor Vitromex USA, who occupied the balance of this 230,900 square foot building during Q4 of 2020.
“After many years in Laredo, Palliser is excited to move and expand the warehouse facilities, adding approximately 44,000 square feet of warehouse space. The building is brand new and features modern amenities,” said Mike Hofmann, COO of Palliser.
“We simply outgrew our old location. We were spread out amongst multiple buildings, and this move allows us to merge our facilities into a single location in Laredo. This new warehouse is part of a longer-term expansion plan, that will allow Palliser to continue to meet the needs of our growing customer base.” Added Hofmann.
Palliser Furniture, a furniture manufacturing company headquartered in Winnipeg, Canada, and Vitromex USA, a tile manufacturer headquartered in Saltillo, Mexico, not only have neighboring distribution facilities in Laredo, Texas, but also have neighboring manufacturing facilities in Saltillo, Mexico. Both companies distribute to the United States and Canada via Laredo, TX, making this a perfect example of a successful USMCA agreement.
“We are very satisfied with our new distribution center, this new location is exceptionally larger, allowing us for increased inventory capacity. We had a very smooth transition thanks to Carlo Molano and the FORUM CRE team”. Said Virgilio Ayala, Operations Manager, Vitromex USA
The building is located on 20.6 acres of land at 13819 Humphrey Road, inside the Sophia Industrial Park, with easy access to Interstate Highway 35, and 10 miles from the World Trade Bridge. The building was developed by Humphrey Development, a new branch of GONTOR Group, an international trade company primarily providing customs and logistics services in North America.
“Our vision was to be ready for a tsunami of logistics operations that the Laredo corridor will experience in the next couple years because of the updated USMCA agreement. We envisioned a need for a new real estate development in the area that could service multinational companies.” Said Alejandro Gonzalez, COO, Humphrey Development.
“Palliser and Vitromex, both multi-national companies from Canada and Mexico, respectively, with operations in the USMCA region, will have their distribution center for international trade and logistics in Laredo, Texas known as the “Gateway to Mexico”, under one roof, one vision, one global community.” Added Alejandro.
Facilitating the transaction between Humphrey Development and the two tenants, Vitromex and Palliser, was Carlo Molano, Managing Principal and Mike Rodriguez, Vice President at FORUM CRE.
